Susan Sarandon Bio

It was the 1968 Democratic Convention and there was a casting request for a film that had many roles for young people who interrupted it. Joe (1970) was offered a role in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, an actor who had trained, was rejected. His wife Susan was offered a part in the film as Susan Compton. She is the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). Dad Bill kills Susan’s drug dealer boyfriend. Next, Joe (Peter Boyle) is a bigot who works in an assembly line and has a collection of guns, is a friend to Susan. Five years later, Sarandon makes the film. Janet is a transvestite who becomes entangled with the mysterious Dr. Frank n Furter (1975). After more than 15 years Sarandon was finally able to actively advocate for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), taking a flight between Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. "It was an amazing script ... and it shattered numerous myths and changed the American definition of success" she told. "I spent some time there with Kevin Costner, sex some actors in the studio, before getting back on the plane. Tim Robbins (1988), her Bull Durham supporting actor, had already produced two sons in 1992 which allowed Sarandon in a position where she was able to leave her home and pursue demanding roles. This led to four Academy Award nominations in the 1990s as well as the award for best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995). Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
